Cupola coke is a special coke for melting iron in cupola. It is a kind of metallurgical coke.

Cast coke is the main fuel for melting iron in cupola. Its function is to melt the furnace charge and overheat the
molten iron, and support the charge column to maintain its good permeability.

The most ideal raw materials for producing cast coke are low ash, low sulfur, medium volatile and medium strong
caking coking coal.

Usage:

        1> Melt the furnace charge and overheat the molten iron, and support the charge column to ensure good air
permeability. Therefore, the cast coke should have the characteristics of large lump size, low reactivity and small
porosity.

     2>Compared with blast furnace coke, cast coke has the characteristics of large lump size, less cracks and high
compactness. The cast coke charged into the cupola is divided into bottom coke and layer coke.

    3> The role of bottom coke is to generate heat by burning, melt metal and overheat molten iron when it passes
through.  Since this part of coke is located at the bottom of the cupola, it should bear the static pressure of the
whole column and the impact force of large iron materials during charging, so it should have a certain crushing
strength.

   4> The layer coke is added into the furnace from the upper part to the metal material layer by layer to supplement
the consumption of the  bottom coke.   The amount of the bottom coke added in each layer is the amount of the
bottom coke consumed by melting a layer of iron material.
