High purity Graphite powder (100-600mesh), melting point is above 3000ºC under the condition of oxygen isolation, is one of the most temperature-resistant minerals. At room/normal temperature, the chemical properties of graphite powder are very stable, insoluble in water, dilute acid, dilute alkali and organic solvents. Graphite powder with high temperature conductivity, can be refractory materials, conductive materials, and wear-resistant lubrication materials.
Graphite powder reacts with oxygen at different temperatures to form carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide. In halogens only fluorine can react directly with elemental carbon, Under heating, graphite powder is easy to be oxidized by acid. Graphite powder can also react with many metals to form metal carbide at high temperature, which can applied for metallurgy.

1. As refractory material: graphite products with the properties of high temperature resistance, high strength, is mainly used to make graphite crucible in the metallurgical industry; graphite powder as ingot protection agent, metallurgical furnace lining in steel making commonly.
2. As conductive material: graphite powder used for manufacturing electrode, carbon brush, carbon rod, carbon tube,C, graphite gasket, telephone parts, television tube coating in electrical industry.
3. As wear-resistant lubrication materials in the mechanical industry. Lubricating oil often can not be used in high speed, high temperature, high pressure conditions, and graphite wear-resistant materials can be in 200~2000 ºC temperature in a very high sliding speed, without lubricating oil work. Many conveying corrosive medium equipment, widely used graphite material made of piston cup, seal ring and bearing, they do not need to add lubricating oil when running.Graphite emulsion is also a good lubricant for many metal processing (wire drawing, drawing).
