Product Description

Graphite anode is a kind of graphite plate, block or bar used as anode of electrolytic cell in electrolysis industry.
There are two kinds of electrolysis processes using graphite anode, one is aqueous solution electrolysis, the
other is molten salt electrolysis.

During the operation of the electrolytic cell, the graphite anode is mainly consumed through the following forms
of corrosion.

First, since the electrolyte contains a large amount of hydroxide ions and a small amount of sulfate and hypoch
lorite ions as impurities, these ions will discharge on the anode to produce oxygen. The generated primary oxy
gen oxidizes graphite into carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide, which accounts for more than half of the total
corrosion of graphite anode.

Secondly, with the deepening of oxidation, the combination between the particles of the graphite anode body is
gradually destroyed. The loose particles on the surface layer of the graphite anode are combined, and slag falls
under the washing of salt water.Oxidation and slagging make the anode thinner, and to a certain extent,it need
to be stopped and replaced.
