Hp-r high temperature grease is a complex lithium base grease, where P stands for performance, H stands for high, and HP stands for multi-purpose grease.
English name: grease lubricatingreasegreasegrease heavy semi solid. Used for mechanical friction parts, play a role in lubrication and sealing. It is also used on metal surfaces to fill gaps and prevent rust. It is mainly made of mineral oil (or synthetic lubricant) and thickener.
The main function of grease is to lubricate, protect and seal. Most greases are used for lubrication and are called antifriction greases. Antifriction grease mainly plays a role in reducing mechanical friction and preventing mechanical wear. At the same time, it also plays the role of protecting metal corrosion and sealing dust.
Some greases are mainly used to prevent rust or corrosion of metals, called protective greases. For example, a few greases such as industrial vaseline are specially used for sealing, called sealing greases, such as thread grease.
Greases are mostly semi-solid substances with unique fluidity. Greases work on the principle that the thickener holds the oil where it needs to be lubricated. When there is a load, the thickener releases oil and thus plays a lubricating role.
It is like a solid at room temperature and at rest, can maintain its shape without flowing, can adhere to the metal without slipping. When high temperatures or external forces exceed a certain limit, it flows like a liquid. When grease is shear by moving parts in machinery, flow and lubrication can be generated, reducing friction and wear between moving surfaces. After the shear stops, a certain consistency can be restored. The special fluidity of grease determines that it can be lubricated in places that are not suitable for lubricating oil. In addition, because it is a semi-solid substance, its sealing and protection effect is better than that of lubricating oil.

Basic composition

Grease is mainly composed of three parts: thickener, base oil and additive. The content of thickening agent in general grease is about 10%-20%, the content of base oil is about 75%-90%, and the content of additives and fillers is below 5%.

Base Oil: Base oil is the dispersion medium in the dispersion system of grease, which has great influence on the performance of grease. General greases mostly use medium viscosity and high viscosity petroleum lubricating oil as the base oil, there are also some in order to adapt to the needs of mechanical lubrication and sealing under harsh conditions, the use of synthetic lubricating oil as the base oil, such as ester oil, silicone oil, polyalpha-olefin oil.

 

thickener: The thickener is an important component of grease. The thickener is dispersed in the base oil and forms the structural skeleton of the grease, so that the base oil is adsorbed and fixed in the structural skeleton. The water resistance and heat resistance of grease are mainly determined by the thickening agent. There are two main types of thickeners used to prepare greases. Soap-based thickeners (i.e. fatty acid metal salts) and non-soap-based thickeners (hydrocarbon, inorganic and organic).
Soap base thickener is divided into three kinds: simple saponyl (such as calcium base fat), mixed soap base (such as calcium and sodium base fat) and complex soap base (such as complex calcium base fat). 90% of greases are made with soap-based thickeners.

Additives and fillers: One kind of additive is the grease, called glue solvent, which makes the oil soap bond more stable. Such as glycerin and water. Once the water is lost in calcium grease, its structure is completely destroyed and cannot become grease, such as glycerin in sodium-based grease can adjust the consistency of grease. Another type of additive is the same as that in lubricating oil, such as antioxidant, anti-wear and anti-rust agents, but the amount is generally more than that in lubricating oil. Such as phosphate ester, ZDDP, Elco extreme pressure anti-wear agent, compound agent, drop point enhancement agent, etc. Sometimes, in order to improve the grease's ability to resist loss and enhance lubrication, some graphite, molybdenum disulfide and carbon black are often added as fillers.
